We are finally here! It’s June and it’s Pride month! The month of June was chosen for “LGBTIAQ+” Pride Month to commemorate the Stonewall riots, which occurred at the end of June 1969. As a result, many pride events are held during this month to recognise the impact LGBTIAQ+ people have had in the world. While festivals may be cancelled this year, that doesn't mean we need to lose the spirit of PRIDE this month! Here is a list of the online festivities for you to join and share with your network:

Free LGBTI Suicide Prevention Training for GPs in NSW!
This RACGP CPD approved training aims to strengthen understanding of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex (LGBTI) people and communities and increase your capacity in suicide prevention. It has three parts:
- LGBTI Introduction Online Modules
- LGBTI Suicide Prevention Online Module
- Online Case Studies
You will gain 7 CPD points through the following learning outcomes:
- Communicate appropriately with LGBTI people based on an understanding of the differences between sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, and gender expression.
- Recognise LGBTI mental health and suicide disparities when consulting with LGBTI people.
- Identify and manage suicide risk factors when consulting with LGBTI persons.
- Develop and implement practice plans to meet the unique needs of LGBTI people.
- Respond to distress and suicidality using tools to effectively assess suicide risk and recommend a culturally appropriate/inclusive referral pathway.
LGBT Aged Care Inclusive Practice Webinar – 20% OFF!

From 01 July 2019, the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission expects that organisations providing aged care services in Australia will comply with new Aged Care Quality Standards (Quality Standards). Among other key points, “Providing education and training to staff at every level of the organisation, including the governing body, which includes a specific understanding of the different lived experiences within and amongst L, G, B, T & I peoples” is a foundation step within the new Action Plan to support Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans and gender diverse, and Intersex elders.
Through this 6-hour training you will take our LGBTI Awareness eLearning as the pre-requisite of the live webinars, and then attend 2 webinars, each for 2.5 hours.
